journey

This blog was created with the thought of connecting with our families and friends. Working away from home, family and friends is not as easy as anyone might think of. Here you will find our photos and some updates of what we were up to. Also found here are photos of sceneries, landmarks and buildings here in Qatar.

thought it was impossible

You might wonder what is in the photo. it is actually water coming from the clouds - ULAN.

I thought that rain will not fall down on this side of the earth since this is a desert before. I am not aware of it because I haven't read anywhere or seen in the movies about it.

About eight (8) months after I arrived here in Qatar and while we are working inside the office, we heard something like my bumabato sa bubong ng warehouse namin. (By the way our office is inside the warehouse, which i will show you in the near future.) I was realy surprised and almost stunned, MAY ULAN DIN PALA DITO? At ganun kalalaki yung patak na maririnig mo talaga. It will really call anyones attention, talagang magpapapansin siya. But it only lasted for less than five (5) minutes.

Then somebody told us that the season will change from tag-init to tag-ulan. And true enough after several days the temperature was slowly cooling down. We were told that we should buy jacket that early coz the price will go up. Applicable din pala ang law of supply and demand dito. At first I settled for thinner ones, I thought I can bear the coldness. I thought it was only like Baguio where it is bearable and I only wore shorts. But I was wrong. Then I remembered Kuya Ver. He would tell us that when he was in Saudi before, I could not remember the place, he used to iron his bed before he would go to sleep dahil malamig din yung hihigaan nya. Sabi ko sobra naman! And here I am! Actually, I did it one time, hahaha!!!

Yung ibang lahi would wear a jacket and long pants (mind you they call it jeans, maong man o hindi) Pero ang pinoy: doble-dobleng t-shirt with jacket on the outside and as usual, shorts na nakapaibabaw sa long pants! At hindi pa kumpleto yun, isama mo pa ang medyas habang naka tsinelas, hahaha! Anong binatbat ng mga "fashionista" jan. Pinoy talaga, matatawa ka nalang! But it feels good seeing it, sabihin mang baduy. It still reminds us of being a Filipino and parang nasa Pilipinas lang kami.

You see in the photo what Jimmy wears and yet he is still cold. It was taken infront of our room early in the morning after he took his breakfast. On his right side is a pool of water. May BAHA din dito. It is because of the poor drainage which i think they do not pay attention to dahil nga sa minsan lang naman umulan dito. We also heard that last year lang daw nagkaroon ng malakas na ulan compared to the previous years.

It started raining last Friday and until now ay umaambon pa rin ng paunti-unti. And many are saying na nagsisimula palang ang tag-lamig dito.

Val's Birthday

Last night, January 8, was Val's birthday. We prepared something for him but the money came from his own pocket, hahaha!!! Since we were not on the same shift, I did the marketing and preparation but it was Meo and Romy who did the main task - cooking. They cooked Lauya, Afritada and roasted chicken. While they were cooking, they are also taking "tagays" from the guys inside the adjacent room. Reminiscent of what we have in the Philippines, na pag nagkakasama-sama at habang nagluluto ay may kasama ring inuman.

Anyway, the bday celebrant arrived on the scene at around 12 midnight. And the worst part is wala syang dalang alak which was promised to him, because their boss took it. Disappointed syempre yung nakapag umpisa na kasi naputol yung momentum kaya lang the show must go on. Actually, nakaka isa't kalahating bote na sila before he arrived.

So nagkainan nalang. Then after that kulitan ulit at yun na kantyawan na sa salad. Kaya daw pala naubos kaagad dahil ginawang goto!!

The total atmosphere was masaya nandun yung kwentuhan, kulitan at paminsan minsan ay bukuhan. Nairaos din birthday ni Val ng masaya even if we are miles away from our family. Unfortunately nakalimutan ang picture taking kaya ibang photo nalang ang naka post dito!!!
